Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • The Dragonfly AI platform applies the Dragonfly Thinking methodology through an interactive, web‑based system. It guides users through a multi‑step workflow that includes framing questions, understanding multiple perspectives, analysing drivers and connections, designing interventions, stress‑testing scenarios and developing actionable strategies. Tools such as the Risk, Reward and Resilience (RRR) framework let users map system drivers, connections and interventions. The platform is collaborative, allowing teams to work together, align on shared mental models and create strategic outputs faster.

  • Most general‑purpose AI tools, such as ChatGPT, are open‑ended models that can generate coherent text but do not conduct expert-level structured analysis. Dragonfly Thinking overlays large language models with structured analytic frameworks that provide step‑by‑step reasoning. which significantly improves outputs. Key differences include:

    • Structured cognitive architecture: Dragonfly embeds analytic frameworks into its AI of the type used by strategy teams and intelligence agencies, enabling deeper reasoning than generic models.

    • Double‑helix teams: Domain experts work with AI engineers to design tools that reflect real‑world complexities and can be embedded into existing and new workflows.

    • Human‑AI collaboration: Rather than replacing human judgment, Dragonfly positions AI as a teammate that provides structured analysis which people can direct and refine.

    • Visualizations: Our tools come with custom visualizations, including complex systems maps and interventions maps, to allow individuals and teams to understand and communicate their insights about complex systems and strategic interventions.

  • Dragonfly Thinking serves a wide range of decision-makers working on complex, cross-cutting challenges. Its AI-enabled tools and frameworks are used across public, private, and philanthropic sectors to improve strategic foresight, investment resilience, risk anticipation, and transformative change. The platform is structured around six verticals:

    • Dragonfly Strategy – Helps leaders navigate complexity by integrating economic, political, and technological perspectives. Designed for corporate executives, policymakers, and cross-functional teams seeking strategic foresight.

    • Dragonfly Investing – Builds resilient portfolios using scenario planning and the Total Portfolio Approach. Used by sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, endowments, and family offices to prepare for regime shifts and market disruptions.

    • Dragonfly Security – Connects digital, economic, and geopolitical signals to forecast cascading risks. Supports early-warning systems for governments and industries facing cyber threats, supply chain vulnerabilities, and systemic shocks.

    • Dragonfly Impact – Applies systems thinking to design interventions that trigger transformative change. Useful in international development, climate resilience, and mission-driven initiatives aiming for sustainable impact.

    • Dragonfly Learning – Equips executives, public servants, and technologists with strategic AI fluency. Combines structured thinking techniques with cutting-edge tools to build adaptive decision-making capabilities.

    • Dragonfly Labs – Leads R&D on human–AI collaboration. Works with academic and institutional partners to prototype next-generation reasoning frameworks and collective intelligence tools.

  • Dragonfly Learning offers a five‑week course “Mastering Generative AI: From Foundations to Fluency.” It costs AUD$3,454 per individual or AUD$2,959 per person for groups of five or more; a private cohort (up to 15 people) is AUD$39,875. Each enrolment includes three months of complimentary platform access. Participants learn prompting techniques, human‑AI collaboration, scenario planning and ethical considerations about the use of AI.

Technical

  • Dragonfly Thinking is committed to responsible AI use. Our generative tools are built on leading large language models and are designed to support not replace human judgment. They offer structured, multi-perspective analysis to help users navigate complexity, but they are not infallible. AI outputs may occasionally contain errors or reflect unintended bias.

    We encourage users to:

    • Treat generative content as a starting point, not a final answer

    • Avoid entering personal or sensitive information

    • Apply independent verification and critical thinking

    • Use the tools to support deliberation, not automate decision-making

Our full Generative AI Disclaimer and Ethics Statement outlines the safeguards we’ve put in place, including transparency, human oversight, fairness, and respect for human rights.
